About

Die Brücke (also written as Die Bruecke, if the umlaut is not used) was formed in late 2005 following the dissolution of the darkwave/EBM group Emergence, which included several musicians who would go on to form the fledgling DB. The initial project members—Rob Holman, Corey Drake, and Sarah Chenoweth—were soon joined by former Electrophile guitarist and programmer, Patrick Hogan.

The moniker of the new project was inspired by an early 20th century German Expressionist movement of the same name, famous for its primal, unscientific approach to art. “Die Brücke,” or The Bridge, envisioned a school of art that would be a link between old and new, between the past and the future. This vision is shared by the band Die Brücke, who conspire to create something new yet familiar. Their work is dark, sometimes energetic and sometimes brooding, using experimental, gothic, rock, electro, classical, and even tribal elements to form a distinct and powerful sound reminiscent of the more accessible, dark industrial-rock sound of the early 1990s.

In 2007, Die Brücke released the EP Monster, which exceeded their expectations for a freshman release and helped unify their individual ideas and contributions into the artistic expression that defines the Die Brücke sound. Monster was followed in August of 2009 with Exhibition, a full-length CD that showcases DB’s maturing production values and imbues even the most electronic, dance-oriented songs with a vibrant rock sound. To support Exhibition, DB launched a 2009 summer tour that included headlining shows in Denver,  Las Vegas, L.A., and Phoenix.

In late 2009, both Corey Drake and Sarah Chenoweth were sadly forced to retire from the active DB line-up for personal and health reasons, and the group was joined by two new musicians, Mark “Zero” Sousa of Machinegun Symphony on keys and percussion, and Jason Ayres on bass guitar. Patrick moved to primarily playing guitar on stage, and with this new line-up, DB resumed live performances in the Rocky Mountain region, with additional shows planned nationwide for 2010.
